Why I’m Running

I’m Minesh Patel, a first-generation proud immigrant who’s called Canada home for 22 years. With a Bachelor of Arts degree, I’ve dedicated 17 years to serving Calgary Transit as a mechanic, steward, and active member of various committees for our local transit union. Served as a President and Board of Trustee for various non profits, I’ve organized food drives, blood camps, and cultural exchange events, earning the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022 from both provincial and federal governments, a House of Commons Certificate for Outstanding Community Work, and multiple certificates of recognition for my volunteer efforts. I also played a key role in uniting 45 organizations to upgrade Alberta’s K-6 social studies curriculum, ensuring our children learn values of inclusivity and history.

My personal values align deeply with the Conservative mindset, and as a proud Canadian, devoted father, and husband in a multi-generational household with my wife, two sons, and parents, I’m driven to ensure the world our children and future generations inherit is one they can be proud of. I’m running as an independent because the CPC sidelined me for a parachuted candidate with Liberal ties, but Skyview deserves better. I’m a lifelong conservative, ready to fight for our values and support CPC policies in Parliament as an ally of Pierre Poilievre—without party scandals.

Affordability and Cost of Living 📈

Skyrocketing rents, mortgages, and grocery bills are crushing our budgets. After 10 years of failed Government policies, enough is enough. I’ll fight for a 10% federal GST rebate on essentials like groceries and transit fares for Northeast Calgary residents, putting money back in your pocket.

Immigration and Community Integration ⏳

We need responsible, thoroughly vetted immigration to ensure fairness, alongside recognition of foreign credentials so newcomers can thrive. I’ll advocate for a federal credential recognition program to help Skyview’s diverse professionals contribute fully to our economy.

Public Transit and Infrastructure 🚆

Federal support for projects like the Green Line lags behind our needs. With my 17 years at Calgary Transit, I’ll push for federal funding to expand the Green Line to connect Skyview to downtown, easing commutes and boosting growth.

Healthcare Access 🏥

Months-long waits for care are unacceptable. I’ll advocate for federal grants to reduce wait times in Skyview, ensuring faster access to doctors, mental health services, and specialists—because you deserve better healthcare – now!

Jobs and Economic Opportunities 💼

Good jobs are fading, and small businesses are fighting to survive. I’ll create “Skyview Job Hubs” by partnering with local businesses and Federal Authorities like Calgary Airport Authority to offer training in trades and transit/ground staff roles, helping youth and newcomers build careers right here.

Cultural Representation and Inclusion 🌍

Our vibrant diversity needs a true voice in Ottawa. I’ll establish a “Skyview Community Fund” to expand cultural exchange events, and support senior programs, ensuring every voice in our 50% immigrant community is heard and celebrated.

Crime and Public Safety 🚨

Rising crime dims the safety we cherish. I’ll fight for a federal grant for community policing in high-crime areas, plus programs to tackle drug issues, so Skyview families can feel secure again.
